Dark Christmas Tournament Program

Tournament Kit"Hear ye, hear ye, Halloweentown residents! It is time to reap the benefits of your terrifying achievements!"

NECA is proud to present a special summer event as part of our Nightmare Before Christmas TCG tournament and demo program!

All stores carrying The Nightmare Before Christmas TCG are invited and encouraged to sponsor tournaments as part of NECA's new Tournament Program. NECA will help out by sending select cards from our Tournament Kit to every tournament to be used as prize support. To get a look at the full range of cards in our Tournament Kit, please click here.

Please note that only a portion of the cards from the Tournament Kit will be sent to each tournament (see Tournament Prizes below).

Here's how the program works:

  1. Each Tournament must be hosted at a brick-and-mortar retail store which carries The Nightmare Before Christmas TCG product.

  2. Each retail store wishing to host a tournament must register the tournament with NECA (see #10 below) at least 10 days prior to the event. Once approved, the tournament will then be posted on our website to assist players in finding the event.

  3. Each store is encouraged to run as many tournaments as possible. NECA will send one Tournament Kit to every tournament (up to one Tournament Kit per week).

  4. The Tournament Kit sent to each participating retail venue must be used exclusively for prize support for the tournament.

  5. The tournament must be run according to the game's official Tournament Guidelines (see #9 below), and may either be a Beginner Tournament or a Constructed Deck Tournament at the store's discretion. Tournament Directors may also create new tournament formats if they wish, as long as the formats are approved in advance by NECA.

  6. All Tournament Directors must submit player information to NECA to authenticate the tournament afterwards. See our Halloweentown Council page for more details.

  7. All stores hosting a Beginner Tournament must have Starter Decks available for purchase at the store. Players may not bring their own Starter Decks to a Beginner Tournament. Also, the Tournament Director must be prepared to teach the game to those attending a Beginner Tournament. It is also advisable that a store hosting a Beginner Tournament have counters available for players to use.

  8. NECA will send each participating store an 11" X 17" poster to help advertise the event.

  9. The Tournament Guidelines and Score Cards are available for download on our main Demos & Tournaments page.

  10. All stores wishing to host a Dark Christmas Tournament must register the event by sending an email to webmaster@njkingdom.com.

Tournament Prizes

NECA will rotate different sets of cards drawn from the pool of cards in the Tournament Kit (and sometimes from the promo cards) when sending prize support for each tournament. Prizes at the Tournament will be awarded as follows:

  • First Prize: The winner of the Tournament will receive his or her choice of either 1 foil or 2 non-foil special prize cards sent by NECA.

  • Second Prize: The player coming in second place will receive either the 1 foil or 2 non-foil prize cards that were not selected by the first place winner.

  • Top Four: If 7 or more players participate in the tournament, then the top 4 players (including the first and second place winners) each win one additional Tournament Kit card sent by NECA. If 6 or fewer players participated in the tournament, then the Tournament Director must hold onto these prizes until his or her next tournament.

  • Participation: NECA will send 8 Participation Cards which are awarded to the top 8 players who participated in the tournament. If more than 8 players participate in the tournament, then NECA will send a greater number of Participation Cards to the following tournament.
NECA is very excited about the launch of our new Tournament Program! Please visit our Haunted Forums to let us know if you have any questions about the new program.
